Interim Finance Director

Location: West Midlands (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 months+
Rate: Circa £1200 per day (Inside IR35)

We're partnering with a well-established B2B business with an annual turnover of circa £100MN to recruit an experienced Interim Finance Director (number 1 finance role). This is a high-impact leadership opportunity, supporting the business through a period of turnaround while providing strategic and operational financial leadership.

Working closely with the Board and wider executive team, you'll lead a sizeable, multidisciplinary function, ensuring the finance team continues to deliver outstanding commercial and operational support across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, including financial accounting, FP&A, commercial finance, transactional finance and credit control, as well as oversight of a small number of non-finance functions.
  • Provide strong leadership to a sizeable multidisciplinary team, driving performance, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Own the budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, and cash management processes.
  • Prepare and present the monthly board reporting pack, providing clear financial insight and strategic recommendations.
  • Act as the key point of contact for the external audit process.
  • Partner with the Board to support financial strategy and business decision-making during a period of organisational change.
  • Ensure robust financial governance, compliance and risk management, including oversight of commercial pricing and contractual matters.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, acting as a trusted business partner to the executive team and fostering collaboration with non-finance stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience operating at Finance Director level within a complex B2B environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading through change.
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including functions outside of finance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a track record of driving business performance.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial planning, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial models and large data sets.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and drive change.
  • Experience working in businesses undergoing transformation or organisational change is highly desirable.
